The Resusmonitor Simulator
Keep the Beat instructors use the Resusmonitor to simulate the patient’s physiological response to a clinician’s management during the course of a training session. It enables us to provide more realistic scenarios during your ACLS and PALS skills testing.
No login is required, nothing needs to be downloaded and the setup process is simple and reliable.
The only prerequisites are an internet connection and as many devices (computer, tablet, phone) as you wish, connected using the same session ID. Connected devices don’t even need to be in the same room / city / country, so simulator sessions can be run remotely!
When you schedule your skills test date and time an email confirmation is sent that outlines the necessary steps you need to take to prepare, for simulator use.
Please reminder to purchase a manikin in advance if you already have not done so. Here is a link to our recommended manikin.
Please review the following steps before your skills test to understand the process of using the Resusmonitor system.
How to use the ResusMonitor
- On the day and at the time of your testing, open your “Zoom” session with your instructor. This link has been emailed to you from your instructor.
- Open another tab in your web browser and go to https://resusmonitor.com/. Once on the homepage you will follow these simple steps to connect to your instructor’s session.
- Scroll down and look for the red box to the right that says “Connect to Existing Session” or “Change Session ID” if you’ve used the program previously.
- Input the Session ID that you received from your instructor. If you have not yet received one yet, your instructor will give you one during the Zoom session.
- Click the orange box labeled “Display Patient Monitor” to the left of the “Change Session ID” box
- That’s it! You can minimize the tab, or if on a separate mobile device, stow it off to the side for later use!
FAQ/Troubleshooting:
Q: I cannot see any vital signs or anything that resembles a monitor, just sliders and numbers?
A: Ensure at the top of the page you are on the “Display Monitor Tab” and not the “Control Vital Signs Tab”
Q: I can see vital signs and a rhythm, but they are not changing when the instructor changes the case or rhythm type?
A: Double check you have input the correct session ID. Note they are case-sensitive. To check while on the monitor tab, scroll to the bottom left and click “Show/Hide ID”. If the ID displayed is incorrect, go to the home page and click “Change Session ID” in the red box to the right. Then Click “Display Patient Monitor” again.
Q: The ETCO2 is low despite my instructor stating all vitals are normal.
A: This program was developed in the UK where ETCO2 is measured in kPa and not mmHg. To convert, the kPa value is multiplies by 7.5 to obtain a reading in mmHg, which we use in the U.S.
